The Forest Department of Karnataka has about 150 Elephants in various camps and Dubare has been historically well known in the world. The Elephants for the famous Mysore Dasara were trained at Dubare elephant camp in a professional way.
Mandalpatti is one of the best spots and the hills are located around 25- 30 km from Madikeri town en route to Abbi falls. Mandalpatti is also known as ‘Mugilu-Peth’ or ‘Mugilu-Pete’ which means Market of Cloud (Mist).
